Persephone

Dedicated to the Goddess Persephone, the young woman faces the future amid stands of wheat and grass, while she holds a bundle of wheat in her left hand, and a tarot card of the Empress in her right. She faces an optimistic and fertile future, with stormy weather behind. Her expression is resigned certainty that the darkness is in the past, and an abundant future is ahead.
A contemporary interpretation of Persephone, this depiction of Persephone combines current clothing fashion with tradition symbology (wheat, the Empress for fertility, clear versus stormy weather). The background landscape is inspired by the gardens from the Self Realization Fellowship in Encinitas, CA.
